Why Do Men Cheat?

Why do men cheat?  I know the list can go on and on, but I’ve come to the conclusion it’s because of the other woman.  Yeah yeah.  I know that a lot of you readers would disagree, but really it takes two to tangle.  Men wouldn’t get away with cheating if we women didn’t let them.  And by let them, I mean let them in.

I began to think about this after a conversation that I had this morning.  I was at an appointment and a fairly nice looking gentleman struck up a conversation with me.  I consider myself to be attractive, not to toot my own horn, but his opening of dialogue with me was not unusual.

Pardon my digress, but the gentleman made a partially correct observation.  He stated, “it’s sad, how all the black women I see are so angry. They always have a mean look on their face.”

I felt the heat rise in me at the sound and comprehension of his words. I was convicted by his statement because at that moment I too had a scowl on my face.  Anyone, with the work load and deadlines I constantly run into would feel the same way.  However for me, who just happens to be in a very satisfying relationship at the present moment, the words couldn’t have been any further from the truth.

I commented, “Oh you say that because I’m looking mad?”

He responded, “Yes.”

I smiled and shook my head and smugly spoke, “not me.  I’m in a very happy relationship,” and smiled as I placed my pistol back in my holster.  The conversation continued and he began to give me the look.  The look that mostly every woman has seen at one time or another in their lifetime.  I smiled at him because he knew I was taken.  He’d told me he was taken, so what else was there?

If I were still insecure, yes I used to be a member of that club, I would have felt validated because a member of the opposite sex was interested in me, which would have meant I was better than his current mate, classic textbook insecurity.  But through the power of Christ, I understand who and what I am, which has erased the need for male attention in order to love myself.

I immediately grew tired of his conversation and began to go through my daily emails on my phone. It took him all of five minutes to get the hint.  I continued to think about this interaction throughout my morning. Growth is good. Positive change is everythang!!

So back to my opening, if I were insecure or unhappy in my current relationship, I could possibly be getting ready for a dinner date instead of plucking at these keys.  We woman can not find what we need in a man. The insecurity that can control us thinks so.  Nevertheless, the secure confident woman knows of karma and also the golden rule,” love thy neighbor as thy loves thyself.”

I smile again as I look at my mate.
